At Cedar Tree Therapy, we provide evidence-based psychotherapy for individuals experiencing concerns such as OCD, anxiety, and eating disorders. We understand that finding the right mental health provider can feel overwhelming, especially when you are also trying to navigate NIHB coverage.

Our goal is to make accessing specialized mental health care as straightforward as possible. If you are searching for an NIHB therapist in Ontario, you may be looking for more than just a therapist who accepts coverage. You may be looking for someone who understands your experiences, provides specialized care, and creates a space where you feel supported and understood.

What is NIHB?

The Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) Program provides eligible First Nations, Inuit and Metis clients with coverage for therapy and mental health treatment.

At our practice, we offer NIHB covered therapy to those in Ontario who are looking for support with concerns including:

  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)

  • Anxiety and panic

  • Intrusive thoughts

  • Trauma and difficult life experiences

  • Eating disorders and disordered eating

  • Body image concerns

  • Emotional regulation

Finding an NIHB Therapist in Ontario Who Specializes in Your Needs

When choosing a therapist, it is important to consider both accessibility and expertise.

While finding an NIHB-approved therapist is an important first step, specialized training and experience can make a significant difference in therapy outcomes.

At Cedar Tree Therapy, our approach is grounded in evidence-based therapies designed to address the specific challenges you are experiencing.

OCD Therapy

OCD is often misunderstood. Many people experience distressing intrusive thoughts, fears, or urges and may spend significant time trying to reduce anxiety through compulsions, reassurance seeking, checking, avoidance, or mental rituals.

We provide specialized OCD treatment using approaches such as:

  • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

  • Evidence-based adjunctive treatment for OCD such as I-CBT and Acceptance Commitment Therapy.

Therapy for OCD focuses on helping you build confidence in responding differently to anxiety and uncertainty.

Eating Disorder Therapy

Eating concerns can impact many areas of life, including relationships, confidence, daily routines, and your relationship with yourself.

We support individuals experiencing eating disorders and related concerns, including:

  • Binge eating

  • Purging

  • Restrictive eating patterns

  • Body image distress

  • Fear around food

  • Disordered eating behaviours

Our approach focuses on understanding the relationship between thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and experiences while supporting meaningful recovery.

Trauma-Informed Therapy

Many people seek therapy because they are carrying experiences that continue to impact their emotional well-being.

Our therapy approach is trauma-informed, meaning we prioritize safety, collaboration, and understanding how past experiences may influence current thoughts, emotions, and behaviours.

Online NIHB Therapy Across Ontario

Accessing specialized mental health care is not always easy, especially when the right provider may not be located nearby.

We offer online therapy for clients across Ontario, providing a flexible option for individuals who:

  • Prefer virtual appointments

  • Live outside larger urban centres

  • Want access to specialized OCD or eating disorder therapy

  • Need appointments that fit into their schedule

Virtual therapy allows you to receive support from the comfort and privacy of your own space.

Choosing the Right NIHB Mental Health Provider

The therapist you choose should be someone you feel comfortable with and someone who understands the concerns you are bringing into therapy.

When searching for an NIHB therapist in Ontario, consider asking:

  • Does this therapist have experience with my specific concern?

  • Do they use evidence-based treatment approaches?

  • Do they accept NIHB coverage?

  • Do I feel comfortable and understood when speaking with them?

Therapy is a collaborative process, and finding the right fit matters.

Support for OCD, Anxiety, Trauma, and Eating Disorders Through NIHB

At Cedar Tree Therapy, we believe that accessing mental health care should feel clear, supportive, and accessible.
